Humans Vs ChatGPT - can we outplay that which outplays us?

Is this how we dissolve as a human race? Or evolve to the next level of being?

Unless you have been one of the lucky ones stuck on a tropical island with no internet, you’ve been discussing ChatGPT. At dinner parties, offices, meetings, school picnics - there is suddenly an intense hub-bub at the glimpse we’ve all had into our operational future.

And the opinions are strong and polar. Advancing humanity; inevitable; the machines are rising; that is the end of human thought; Thank god I can just get high and hang out on my couch (genuine quote from a gen Z) — whatever your thoughts… it’s permeated them.

I’ve felt the conflict. I pride myself on embracing the fluid change that comes with creativity and play and yet that primal area at the base of my spine is quaking. Do I embrace? Or regail? And can ChatGPT possibly HELP us in our cause to play?

There is no reason and no way that a human mind can keep up with an artificial intelligence machine by 2035.”
— Gray Scott ( futurist, philosopher, and artist)

I thought back to a time in Spain when I tried to get a highly sort after ticket to a bull fight. I remember talking to a Spanish man in a dark bar who said he could get me a ticket… for the right price. ‘So -- tell me’ he said in that magical Spanish lilt ‘When do you first find your passion for the fight? - you know, watching bullfighting teaches you the art of being a good lover’ (god, they really are sexy)

Awkward pause. And breath.

‘I don’t have one’ I sheepishly said in my Aussie Twang ‘I’m completely opposed to bullfighting - but if I’ve never experienced it - how do I actually know I don’t agree with it?’

I never made the bullfight. But I wondered if I could have the same experience with ChatGPT — could it win me over?? Whisper Spanish nothings in my ear?

So I dived in. And I played.

To explain the difference between humans and ChatGPT - I’ll let the ChatGPT machine do the hard work:

Chatbots and human writers are both used for generating written content, but there are some key differences between the two.

One of the main differences between chatbots and human writers is their level of creativity. While chatbots can be programmed to generate certain types of content, they often lack the ability to come up with truly original ideas. Human writers, on the other hand, have the ability to think creatively and come up with unique perspectives on a given topic.

Another key difference is the ability to understand and respond to context. Chatbots can be programmed to understand certain keywords and respond accordingly, but they often lack the ability to understand the nuances of language and the subtleties of human communication. Human writers, on the other hand, have a deep understanding of language and are able to respond to context in a way that chatbots cannot.

Additionally, chatbots tend to follow a specific set of rules and algorithms, which means that the content produced by chatbots can often feel formulaic and robotic. Human writers, on the other hand, can use a more free-form writing style, which allows them to produce more natural and engaging content.

Overall, while chatbots can be useful for generating certain types of content, they lack the creativity and understanding of context that human writers possess. For truly high-quality written content, it's often best to rely on the skills of a human writer.

— A spanish whisper. (it’s me again)

Seems ChatGPT isn’t after our creative nuance.

So I put it to test whilst drinking gin in a fine establishment (where all experiments should occur), and I’m still not sure if it’s gin or the future — but something is whispering in my ear… and it says ‘You’ll be ok’.

In conclusion, I think I’m finally ready to speak my opinion at a dinner party or networking event:

  • I don’t think ChatGPT will surpass our need for creativity for a long time

  • I’m ashamed that I doubted the vast mystery of human creativity — we are fine, we have a complex imagination that will take a few more years to master yet

  • ChatGPT is actually FUN to play with and very handy… and is opening up a whole new way to PLAY with technology. It gets the thumbs up from me!

I urge you to play with Chatbot like a broody Spanish man - Take what it says with a grain of salt but enjoy it’s deep, mystifying dulcet tones!

Human Poem: (By Robin Caretti)

It's now or never what awaits
Gin is forever like her collagen of skin
the wanting how her prayers got answered
The (Him) the (I-phone) not my (Apple)
My blessings I got my miracle how fate
sipped me in with my best friend
                        (Gin)
The sip loving him  gin is her oxygen
All cravings from the countries
Native American, Latin American
Afro American, and The North American
The Hotel going to all the meetings
At the Sheraton
my lip to his sunset
Makes a world of her savings

Meets to my original
Tastebuds petals
and sprinkles like bling
Watering my rosebuds
So many brands but
Modern twist
Portugal Spanish
olives trees could sing

Cat nine lives versus her
Gin of love doves pleas

Scratch me lucky seven
But  conventional
Love-seat sectional
Him- I- Gin lets be

ChatGPT Poem:

Gin, oh gin, so clear and bright, A drink to set the mood just right. In a glass, with ice, and a twist, It's a drink that's never to be missed.

With juniper as its base, It's a drink with a unique taste. A hint of citrus, a hint of spice, It's a drink that's truly nice.

In a cocktail, it's the star, With tonic, it takes you far. A martini, dry and cold, Gin, oh gin, you're worth your weight in gold.

So raise a glass, and take a sip, Let the gin, your worries, and your stress, slip. Gin, oh gin, you're a true delight, A drink that will make everything seem just right.
